Tattoo aftercare lotion – oily is a problem?

I was given this cream by my tattoo artist to be applied on my tattoo after 3 days, to keep it moisturized. Its been 3 days and I think it has been healing okay. I applied the moisturizer but found it too oily & greasy like vaseline. Wont this block the pores to the air or something?? Should I get another lotion that feels more watery and smooth??

Oily or petroleum based lotion are not good to use on a fresh tattoo, it can block the air that tattoos need to heal and oily or petroleum based lotions can pull out some of the colour. You might want to switch to some thing like Luberderm that would be a little lighter for you.
